Consultant in Emergency Medicine
This is a truly exciting opportunity to join our dynamic and friendly Emergency Team in beautiful sunny Dorset.
Dorset is in the process of a major reconfiguration of Hospital services, with Royal Bournemouth Hospital being developed into the main Emergency Centre for the Region.
Dorset CCG recently announced the outcome of a fundamental clinical services review, which recommended the Royal Bournemouth Hospital as the Major Emergency Hospital for East Dorset; this would incorporate trauma, paediatrics and other key services on a single site with a new significantly larger purpose-built emergency department.
The plans have been through public consultation with a definitive announcement made in Sept 2017. This represents an incredibly exciting opportunity to be directly involved in the design, planning and implementation of a new East Dorset Emergency Department providing
high quality emergency care for the people of Dorset for decades to come whilst living in one of the most beautiful parts of the UK.
We are looking for enthusiastic and committed colleagues to join our dynamic team to help develop and deliver a first class emergency service for Bournemouth. This is a new post based at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. The department is currently staffed by 8.0 WTE Consultant Emergency Physicians. There are 12 middle grade posts, one SpR shared with
Poole, and 16 F2GPVTs/Trust posts and we are now just beginning the workforce planning for the single Acute site.
We can offer flexible bespoke annualised job plans including for those wanting to work less than full time. We understand the importance of sustainable working and are able to offer a highly attractive package for successful applicants.
Our current Consultants have specialist interests in Paediatrics, Sports Medicine, Ultrasound, ED Critical Care and Pre-hospital Care. Once in post applicants will be encouraged to further develop their own special interests and get involved in the planning of an exciting new and expanded Emergency Department for the people of East Dorset.
Applicants must be on the GMC’s specialist register or within six months of completing a training programme recognised for the award of CCT or equivalent.
