Consultant in Paediatric Intensive Care
Applications are invited for a full time substantive position as Consultant in Paediatric Intensive Care at Addenbrooke’s Hospital Cambridge.
The PICU in Addenbrooke’s Hospital is part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We have thirteen beds including four HDU beds and about six hundred admissions a year. More detail about the unit outcomes and activity is available on the national audit organisation (PICAnet) website.
Our PICU supports a wide range of medical and surgical specialties, major trauma, education and research. Services include surgical services such as neurosurgery, ophthalmology, urology, orthopaedics, scoliosis surgery, plastic and cleft lip and palate surgery, paediatric general surgery and oncology surgery. Medical services supported include acute paediatrics, endocrinology, respiratory medicine, immunology, rheumatology, haematology, oncology, allergy, neurology, and gastroenterology.
Addenbrooke’s Hospital is the Major Trauma Centre for the East of England serving a population just under six million people of whom around a fifth are under sixteen.
The appointment will join a close team of nurses, physiotherapy, dieticians, SLT, psychology, counselling and other members of the multidisciplinary team as well as six other consultants.
Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview. Applicants must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013).
