Consultant in Dermatology 2 Posts
Applications are invited for an additional two full time substantive Consultants to join our dedicated team of two existing Dermatology Consultants, three locum consultants, two specialty doctors, four specialist nurses and full time SpR, at this highly rated, 650 bedded acute University Hospital affiliated with UCLH, London. These posts are newly created due to expansion of the service, and will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of service for the 2003 consultant contract (England).
We offer specialist paediatric dermatology, a cutaneous allergy service including patch and photopatch testing and skin prick testing, phototherapy, and iontophoresis. We have excellent links with plastic and maxillofacial surgery. The Trust is the regional centre for head and neck cancer. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their subspecialty interest and will be supported to do this with training at a Tertiary centre if required.
There has been significant investment in Dermatology in 2017 with recruitment to additional Clinical Nurse Specialist posts to support phototherapy, iontophoresis, Photodynamic Therapy. In addition there is a planned move to provide purpose built accommodation for this developing and innovative service.
Candidates must have a sound knowledge of all aspects of dermatology and be fully registered with the UK General Medical Council’s Specialist Register or be within 6 months of obtaining their CCT or equivalent.
We have a full time Specialist Registrar on the East Of England teaching rotation which includes Addenbrookes and Watford NHS Trusts with whom we have close links. We have an excellent Medical Education Centre and an active undergraduate and Postgraduate Teaching Programme. The successful candidate will be involved in teaching and training of medical students, doctors and allied health professionals.
The department is located on one site at this busy District General Hospital serving a local population of 400,000 situated adjacent to Junction 11 of the M1 Motorway. There is excellent access to Central London by road or rail and to the Midlands and the North via the M1/A1. The town also has an international and domestic airport. The surrounding areas are both urban and rural, the latter including many attractive villages within easy reach of the Hospital. Excellent schools are found nearby.
