Consultant Anaesthetist (general)
We are looking for an enthusiastic Consultant general Anaesthetist to join our team of 18 Consultants in a friendly department in rural Shropshire.
Although this post is based at the Princess Royal Hospital, with the reconfiguration of services in the near future it is likely that the successful applicant would be expected to work at the sister hospital in the Trust, the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in the future.
The Anaesthetic Department currently services the following specialties: Vascular, Colorectal, Bariatric, upper GI, Trauma, Urology as well as some day case Gynaecology, Max fax / ENT and Ophthalmology.
Women’s and children’s services are based at The Princess Royal Hospital in Telford. There are Accident and Emergency Departments at both Hospitals.
The post currently attracts 10 Programmed Activities with the opportunity to take on more clinical sessions if desired. The majority of the Consultants in the department are currently working at least 11 PA’s.
The on call rota is a 1 in 8 for Emergency Surgery. There is a separate Intensive Care on call rota.
You must possess full registration with a licence to practise with the General Medical Council and it is essential that you are eligible for entry onto the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview), CESR or European Community Rights.
