Applications are invited from forward-thinking and enthusiastic Consultant
Orthopaedic Surgeons who are paediatric fellowship trained to join the established team of 24 surgeons at Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

The successful candidate will provide orthopaedic and fracture services for Hull, East Yorkshire and the surrounding area.

Elective paediatric and trauma work is carried out at Hull Royal Infirmary, which is designated as a Major Trauma Centre. You will share the department’s beds and facilities, taking a share of the trauma workload with most of the other consultants.

Hull Royal Infirmary provides inpatient elective operating on a weekly basis for paediatrics with additional daycase lists available. 4 consultants currently contribute to this tertiary referral service for paediatrics to the region, including clinics at Scarborough Hospital and clinics/day-case operating at York District Hospital.

Separate clinics for DDH, Ponseti and complex neuromuscular problems are set up and normal variant clinics are supported by 2 specialist physiotherapists. We work as a cohesive team to run the paediatric service efficiently, including a fortnightly governance meeting to discuss complex cases.

To succeed you must have undergone extensive clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in Orthopaedic Surgery, hold your CCT (or entry expected within 6 months), and have the ability to offer expert clinical opinions on a range of problems, both emergency and elective, within the speciality.

The Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust provides a comprehensive range of acute services from multiple sites. We serve an extended population of 1.2 million people. With an annual budget of £481 million and employing over 8000 staff we are committed to the continuous development of services for the benefit of patients and to providing comprehensive care of the highest possible quality.
