Applications are invited for the above post of Permanent Full-time Consultant in Histopathology working within the Western Sussex NHS Foundation Trust to commence as soon as practical.
The successful candidate will join the Cellular Pathology department, which consists of Histopathology, Non-Gynae Cytology, OSNA, Andrology, Immunology and the Mortuaries.
The main laboratory is based at St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester (specimen reporting, dissection, frozen sections, sectioning, staining, ICC, QC, Non-Gynae Cytology, Immunofluorescent Skin Histology, OSNA, Andrology & Immunology), whilst there is a “spoke” laboratory at Worthing Hospital for dissection, frozen sections and specimen reporting. MDT’s take place on both sites and there are inter-site video conferencing suites.
The main Mortuary, where PMs are undertaken, is at Worthing Hospital, although there is an extensive Body Store / Mortuary at St Richard’s Hospital too.
Across the two sites we process approximately 40,000 cases in Histopathology and some 5000 Non-Gynae Cytology and Andrology cases. The number of OSNA cases fluctuates, but currently is approximately 150 per year. We undertake more than 1000 PMs each year. Over 25,000 Immunology tests are undertaken.
