Assistant Medical Director of Non–Elective Care & Consultant in Acute Medicine
One simple choice.
One big impact.
This is a new whole time NHS post (10.0 PA) offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, forward thinking individual to join a dynamic AMU team delivering multidisciplinary acute care at St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals, combined with the opportunity to be part of the Medical Director Team with a specific remit for non-elective(emergency) care more generally.
This post will enable the Trust to improve its early management of emergency admissions by strengthening arrangements for the assessment and early management of all emergency patients across ED, AMU, SAU, Critical Care and the wider Trust during their non-elective stay. There will also be an opportunity to contribute to teaching and training in acute medicine.
St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the leading acute Trusts in the North West of England. We provide a full range of acute adult and paediatric in-patient, out-patient, day case and emergency services to the local communities of St Helens, Knowsley, Cheshire and Merseyside and provide tertiary services across a much wider area in the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.
The Trust continues to develop and expand our services driving the quality of patient care ever higher, ensuring that that Trust continues to thrive in the changing health care economy. At the heart of our success, is our 5 Star Patient Care strategy defining how we provide an excellent experience for every patient every time.
To support us in this ambition, we enjoy close links with our leading universities, including the University of Liverpool, John Moore’s University and Edge Hill University, and we have specific strengths in education and training. To complement this, we also have strong research portfolios and host a number of professional units in medicine and surgery. We believe that staff engagement is an absolute priority and our strong leadership and development programmes, demonstrate how much we value our staff.
You must possess full GMC registration and be on the Specialty Register. In view of the management component of the job, you are also expected to have substantial experience in a senior medical role leading non-elective services.
