Applications are invited for the post of Consultant General Surgeon.

You’ll join a team of five consultants providing general surgical services to the population of the Isle of Wight with subspecialty interests covering colorectal, laparoscopic upper GI / HPB and breast surgery.

The Isle of Wight NHS Trust is a unique NHS organisation, comprising
inpatient medicine and surgery, community, ambulance, mental health
and learning disability services.

The ideal candidate would have a broad training and experience in
General Surgery. A subspecialty interest and the ability to undertake
laparoscopic surgery would be an advantage. Applicants should be on
the GMC Specialist Register for General Surgery.

Participation in the emergency on call rota is required, currently 1 in 6
with prospective cover.

This rewarding clinical and leadership role is situated in an environment
that offers an excellent quality of life. The Isle of Wight, Britain’s own island in the sun is located off the south coast of England and has a population of 138,000. It has much to offer in the way of outdoor leisure pursuits, family living and is also home to the annual music festival. It is a beautiful place to live and relax after work.

Connections to the mainland are frequent, fast and efficient, with a choice of crossings via catamaran, hovercraft, or car ferry, from Southampton or Portsmouth, both of which are approximately 90 minutes by rail from London.
