Consultant Cardiologist (Interventional or Non-Invasive)
NHS Lanarkshire is seeking to appoint a Consultant Cardiologist with interest in either Interventional or a non-invasive sub-specialty. This is a new post and aimed at facilitating optimised Cardiology services in Wishaw General Hospital.
A suitably qualified applicant will have the opportunity to develop their sub-specialty interest and complement existing services. The successful candidate will work with 5 existing Consultant Cardiologists and an Associate Specialist at Wishaw General Hospital in providing a comprehensive cardiology service. Cardiology provision within Lanarkshire has undergone significant expansion in past few years and you will join a Lanarkshire team of 14 Consultants and one Associate specialist.
Cardiac Catheterisation and implantation of permanent pacemakers is carried out at the Lanarkshire Catheterisation laboratory, based in Hairmyres Hospital. A total of 1300 PCI’s a year (including primary PCI) as well as permanent pacemaker and ICD implantations are performed at the unit.
Applicants require full GMC registration and must be on GMC’s Specialist Register or be within 6 months of obtaining a CCT.
