Here in Greater Manchester (GM) we are on a journey of transformation – in February 2015 the 37 NHS organizations and local authorities in GM signed a landmark devolution agreement with the government to take charge of health and social care spending and decisions in the region. Our goal is to bring the greatest and fastest improvement to the health and wellbeing of our 2.8 million people. In order to achieve this we know we need a radical change in how we build resilience in people and communities, as well as providing safe consistent and affordable health and social care and taking action across broader public services and regenerating the economy.

We are now seeking to appoint a self-motivated and innovative individual to a key role for Public Health England (PHE) and GM based in the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership (GMHSCP): the role of Consultant Healthcare Public Health for Public Health England/Lead Screening and Immunisation Consultant. This post will provide systems

This post is suitable for both Consultant Medical and Non-Medical Agenda for Change band 8D appointment.

The consultant will be part of the leadership team for the Commissioning and Population Health Directorate within GMHSCP, and support the Executive Director and Deputy Director of Population Health and Commissioning on the
healthcare public health agenda, including the commissioning responsibilities contained within the section 7a agreement with the Secretary of State. In addition, you will contribute to the implementation of the GM commissioning review recommendations, ensuring that population health principles and approaches are at the heart of this signifi cant health and social system transformation, to secure sustainable pathways and improved health outcomes including reduced health inequalities. You will provide strategic
leadership for the S&I function which is operationally managed by the Senior Screening and Immunisation Manager. In addition, you will contribute and lead on PHE North West Centre and national priorities, including contribution to wider public health initiatives consistent with the centre delivery model and integrated working.

The post will be based at Piccadilly Place in central Manchester with the requirement for travel across GM and regionally and nationally as relevant to the post.
