We are a financially stable progressive mental health and community
services trust with very strong clinical leadership at all levels of the
organisation.

The trust has a focus on improving the experience of patients, carers and
our staff. For the last two years we have been developing a special quality
improvement programme that provides our clinical staff, patients and
carers with skills to transform our services. We believe that our staff are the
organisation’s greatest asset and are the best agents for change.

We have recently been accredited as ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC as
well as being rated as the best place to work in mental health by the
Health Service Journal and have received very high rating in the national
staff survey. In 2015 we acquired mental health services in Luton and
Bedfordshire.

East London NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit Consultant
Psychiatrists within the Newham Directorate. These are existing posts
within innovative and highly regarded services; these posts offer the
opportunity to work within a thriving service in this vibrant, diverse and
exciting borough.

Our Consultant-led Inpatient Mental Health Triage Ward opened in 2013
and has played a pivotal role in the directorate’s successful management
of inpatient bed occupancy over the past 4 years. The ward is predicated
on prompt and robust consultant-led multidisciplinary assessment and
treatment-planning. All admitted patients access a senior review within 24
hours of admission in order that appropriate treatment is commenced early
and in the optimal environment. The clinical team works closely with local
drug and alcohol services and all elements of the local crisis care pathway.

The successful applicant will join an innovative, highly skilled and energetic
team.

Newham hosts a WHO Collaborating Centre (the only one specifically
for Mental Health Service Development in the world) and the successful
applicant will have opportunities for academic links with the Centre and its
large research group in social psychiatry

You will be encouraged and supported to actively participate in Quality
Improvement which is a cornerstone of how we are continuing to improve
the standard of care we provide to our patients.

We appreciate every application that we receive but regret that we are
unable to advise every candidate if they have not been shortlisted. If you
have not heard from us within three weeks of the closing date then it is
probably the case that you have not been shortlisted on this occasion.

Applicants should contact: Dr. Dudley Manns, Clinical Director to
discuss further details on 020 7540 6762 or email: dudley.manns@elft.nhs.uk
