Consultant Physician in Acute Medicine
Applications are invited for a consultant physician to join the Directorate of General/Acute medicine at Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust (HEFT).The post will be centred primarily on the Solihull site, dependent on service developments and need. The successful applicant will join the medical team based at Solihull Hospital and will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate education as well as take a share of the general medical rota at Solihull Hospital. The post is advertised at 10 PAs although there may be opportunities to increase the number by discussion and mutual agreement. Part time applicants will be considered and modification of the job content will be discussed on an individual basis in consultation with the Clinical Director.
The successful applicant will join an energetic and enthusiastic Medical and Elderly Care Team and this is an exciting opportunity for a physician wishing to contribute to the further development of the Acute Medical and Emergency Ambulatory Care Service at Solihull Hospital and take the lead in shaping the future of emergency care at Solihull Hospital particularly in elderly care.
You will work together with other members of the Acute and Elderly Care Teams and colleagues working in sub-specialities to provide a high quality Acute and Emergency Medical service for patients attending the Acute Medical Unit, Ambulatory Care Service and Short Stay Ward; with the exception of possibly some out-patient clinics, Direct Clinical Care programmed activities (DCC PAs)will be based in these areas.
HEFT is one of the largest hospital foundation trusts in England providing services for the east and north of Birmingham at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital and South Staffordshire at Sutton Coldfield Good Hope Hospital and Solihull and parts of Warwickshire at Solihull Hospital. There is also a Birmingham based Chest Clinic and a number of satellite units enabling people to be treated as close to home as possible. The population served is approximately 1.2m. The area which Birmingham Heartlands Hospital serves is essentially urban with some relatively deprived inner city areas, but the catchment area extends into dormitory suburbs and further afield into rural populations.
