Applications are invited for a Consultant in Obstetrics at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL). There are two substantive posts; the first post is with an interest in maternal medicine (specifically haematological disorders in pregnancy) and ECV. The second post is with an interest in complex Obstetrics and a key role in obstetrics ultrasound (excluding anomaly scans) to support a fetal growth and bereavement service.

UHL is one of the largest maternity units in the country and offers specialist services. The CMG provides secondary and tertiary level care, teaching, training and research in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Currently the service is provided over two sites and the post holders are required to work flexibly across both sites, but we expect a substantial service development and a significant move to a single site new built unit.

The successful candidates should have extensive experience in labour ward management and advanced practice and demonstrate the ability to undertake and teach others to undertake complex obstetric deliveries. The RCOG ATSM in advanced Labour Ward Management is essential. The RCOG ATSM in advanced antenatal practice is highly desirable. The new appointees will be expected to develop and support new initiatives and demonstrate the ability to work as part of a large consultant team with the expectation that changes to the job plan will occur as the department develops.

Applicants must have full GMC registration with valid license to practice and be on the Specialist Register or eligible for entry within six months of the date of AAC or equivalent.
