Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital

We are looking for a part-time (6PA) Consultant in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine (PRM) to join our friendly, expanding respiratory department at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. Applicants with full specialist accreditation in PRM or SPIN accreditation in PRM with recent relevant experience in a tertiary respiratory centre are encouraged to apply.

Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital is a large new purpose built children’s hospital serving a population of 6 million (1.1 million children) in the North West Region. The respiratory unit provides tertiary services for children and young people with cystic fibrosis, complex respiratory disease, tuberculosis and long term ventilatory needs. There are close links with secondary adult and paediatric services, neonatal and intensive care services and a wide range of paediatric tertiary specialist teams. 

As one of the country’s Biomedical Research Centres, the Trust also provides a robust infrastructure to facilitate research. This includes the provision of a Divisional Research Business Manager to support all researchers in their applications for funding, planning of projects etc, and a Clinical Lead for Research to provide professional support and mentoring of all new consultants wanting to pursue research. 

The post holders will join a team of six NHS consultants, 8 specialist CF and respiratory specialist nurses, secretarial staff and junior medical staff.  
The appointee will contribute primarily to the respiratory in and outpatient service but will also support inpatient care for children with cystic fibrosis and long term ventilation service during a hot week and out of hours on call commitment of 1:12.5
