Take patient care to the next level with this far-reaching opportunity

At King’s College Hospital NHS Trust, our staff enjoy a quality of life that is unmatchable. That's partly down to the good standard of living - including affordable housing options, exceptional schools and an enviable location between central London and the charming Kent countryside - but it's also because of the local community who genuinely love the services we’re providing. As one of the UK’s most prestigious health trusts, the 1.5 million patients we see every year know they can rely on consistently high calibre services, where innovation is actively encouraged. Based across five sites in south east London, we support our staff as they offer world-class treatments and develop their skills - resulting in a working environment that is quite unique.

At the Princess Royal University Hospital in Farnborough, Bromley, we are now seeking to recruit two dynamic Consultant Physicians in Acute Medicine to our expanding team.  As a level 2 Trauma Unit and a member of the TARN, we experience a variety of interesting cases and a volume of referrals directly from the Emergency Department, Urgent Care and GPs that makes for a stimulating working day. Seeing to the needs of this 56-bed unit that experiences around 80,000 patient contacts every year, you will therefore be at the heart of our work, offering pioneering care within the unit and the ambulatory service. Further developing the capabilities of these services, your high standards of care will form the basis of our need to offer a comprehensive patient-centred 7-day service.  We are currently working towards meeting the London Quality Standards for Acute Medicine, and the successful applicants will therefore enjoy the extensive measures we’ve put in place for inter-departmental working spanning areas such as surgery, diagnostics and gerontology.

As you will take an active role in furthering our research capabilities and educating junior members of staff, you will have a background in acute medicine in a teaching hospital, with experience of educating undergraduates and postgraduates. Having previously completed clinical research and audit projects, you will be a proactive individual with fantastic interpersonal skills and solid leadership qualities. As a GMC registered specialist (or eligible for admission within 6 months of appointment), you will also have MRCP higher qualifications with a CCT in Acute Medicine.

This career enhancing role is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our work. Benefitting from the support of a welcoming community, our consultants enjoy a working life that is of the highest standards. Not only that, but we want to help you find the perfect work-life balance, so we have put family-friendly provisions in place such as nursery facilities and annual appraisals that will ensure we are meeting our commitment to promote family-life. Combined with access to cutting-edge facilities, and a collective drive to make the most of this thriving hospital, there’s no better place in which to further your ambitions.
