We are seeking to employ a motivated and dynamic consultant community paediatrician to join our highly skilled and motivated team of Paediatricians in this integrated department providing general and community services. This is a full time (10 PA) role and the post holder will work alongside 3 other community paediatricians in the Trust to deliver community based services in the Sandwell area. The Trust provides a full range of community children’s services in Sandwell.
This post incorporates the role of Designated Medical Officer for Special Education Needs and Disability (SEND). The Trust also runs a consultant led paediatric epilepsy service delivered from our two hospital sites, City Hospital and Sandwell General Hospital. The incumbent is expected to take over the City Hospital part of this service. There are no general paediatrics acute on call duties attached to this post. If however an applicant was interested and it was their preference, some general paediatric duties could be discussed and arranged with the successful candidate. The Child Development Centre at Conygre, Tipton is a much appreciated multiagency body with highly trained Early Years staff and therapy teams. Consultant led neuro-development clinics takes place in the centre.
The SWBH NHS Trust is a teaching affiliate of the University of Birmingham medical education program. The Paediatric department is renowned for being popular with specialty trainees and we have a regular in-house teaching programme.
The successful candidate will be on the GMC Specialist Register or be within 6 months of gaining CCT in Paediatrics.
