This is a replacement post in the Department of Clinical Haematology.
This is a full time post of 10PA substantive Haematology Consultant based at Royal Albert Edward Infirmary at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust. The Clinical Haematology department forms part of the Division of Medicine although the work spans the Trust within Specialist services for Cancer and Laboratory services.
Working alongside 2 Consultant Haematologists, Dr Hitesh Patel and Dr Chris Gregory, the post holder will be responsible for the care of Haematology patients. The clinical work will involve general and malignant haematology. The post holder will be the Lead Consultant in Haematology Laboratory and Blood Transfusion which is part of the Pathology at Wigan and Salford (PAWS) and they will work with the existing staff in maintaining the standards, policies and protocols for myeloma, lymphoma, leukaemia and general haematological diseases and take part in the development clinical trials within the trust. .
The candidates are encouraged to visit the department which has 2 Day Case facilities, the Cancer Care Suite and the Planned Investigation Unit which have both been recently refurbished and meet the staff which has 1 FY1, 2 Haematology Speciality Doctors, 2 Haematology specialist nurses, secretarial and administrative support.
