Consultant Radiologist with an interest in Breast Imaging
We are a progressive, forward thinking department that is integral to the delivery of safe patient care in Northamptonshire.
We are looking for a consultant radiologist with a sub specialty interest in breast imaging to work in our dynamic Breast Unit which offers symptomatic patients an integrated ‘one-stop’ service alongside a widely respected screening service. Alongside this, there is an option to have general radiology responsibilities and develop other sub specialty interests.
The Trust is investing in new equipment and has a robust replacement programme to ensure we have up to date equipment. We have a 1.5 T Phillips MRI scanner with a dedicated Breast MRI coil and 3 CT scanners (2 newly installed). We are currently installing a second MRI scanner. We also have a fixed onsite PET-CT scanner.
We have recently implemented a region wide PACs system that offers great opportunities for collaborative and innovative working with our hospital partners.
We encourage advanced practice throughout our radiology department, so in addition to consultant colleagues, you will be supported by a dedicated team of reporting and imaging radiographers.
No on-call responsibility is expected for this post. If however, you would like to maintain a wider radiology expertise, then there is the opportunity to participate in the delivery of other general radiology modalities and participate in the on-call.
We are rolling out a programme of placement of PACS workstations at home to allow the ability to report offsite as well. There are excellent opportunities for private practice within the region.
Northamptonshire offers a high standard of living with beautiful villages and surrounding countryside. It is a University town with a world renowned theatre, museums and sporting arenas such as Silverstone, Saints rugby, Steelbacks cricket and the Cobblers. There are also opportunities for golf, sailing, water sports and horse eventing. There are many cultural events including open air music and food festivals. There are excellent travel connections with easy access to London and Birmingham.
We aspire to create an exceptional, sustainable service in collaboration with all our partners. We would encourage both full and part-time applications.
