Consultant Respiratory Physician
Hours: 10PA Job Plan
Job Type: Substantive
Work Location: Bristol Royal Infirmary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Respiratory Physician (replacement of existing substantive post) at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust (UHBristol), supporting the expanding Respiratory services.
UHBristol is a regional teaching hospital and provides secondary and tertiary services for a wide range of respiratory conditions. There are currently 10 full-time and 1 part-time substantive consultants, plus one associate specialist in the department of respiratory medicine, supported by
five SpRs, five SHOs, four F1s, one High Care fellow and one CF fellow.
The successful applicant will join the Respiratory team in providing in-patient and out-patient Respiratory care. The post includes regular bronchoscopy sessions, a lung cancer clinic, and general respiratory inpatient responsibility shared across the respiratory consultants. The successful applicant will also join two CF and Respiratory consultant physicians, as well as a welcoming and dynamic Multidisciplinary Team, in providing high quality across the region. The post includes sessions in adult Cystic Fibrosis; however, due to the specialist nature of Adult CF it is recognised that potential applicants may not have full training in CF. Full support and additional training, if required, will be offered to the successful applicant in this area, with this role being developed to suit the successful appointee. The post also includes a commitment to the general medical take shared with 35 other consultant physicians working a hybrid specialty in-reach programme.
The Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI) is a major University Hospital and the new consultant will be involved in delivering excellent teaching and training. The Respiratory and CF departments are actively developing its research profile and the successful applicant would be encouraged to participate in this.
Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register with dual accreditation in G(I)M and Respiratory Medicine and be within 6 months of CCT on the interview date.
