Applications are invited for a Full Time General Consultant Radiologist to join our existing team of three Radiologists in providing clinical care at Gibraltar Health Authority (GHA). This is a new post to meet increasing demand for all radiological services.
The Radiology Department is well set up to provide a modern and comprehensive radiology service, with two ultrasound rooms, a 128-slice CT scanner (Phillips, installed Aug 2015), two fluoroscopy rooms, one mammography room and two general X-ray rooms. There is currently no local MRI facility; MRIs are sent to us via PACS from a nearby imaging centre. However, the GHA is looking at options for local MRI service provision in the near future.
The post holder will be expected to provide general radiological services including plain film, ultrasound, CT and MRI reporting. A subspecialty interest in MSK imaging is desirable but not essential and other subspecialty interests are therefore also welcome to apply. This is a great opportunity to contribute to the provision and further develop and influence the rapidly expanding Radiological services in Gibraltar. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the on-call service, with a 1 in 4 commitment. A standard week would consist of 8 sessions of direct clinical care and 2 sessions of supporting professional activities (SPAs).
Applicants must hold full registration with the UK General Medical Council, with a licence to practise and must be on the Specialist Register.

The above appointment is offered on a fixed-term contract of three years with a possibility to extend further. Salary, dependant on experience, ranges from £107,777 to £132,984 per annum. In addition the post holder will be paid a sum of 10% of the basic salary for undertaking on call duties and a supplement of 8% of the basic salary in order to provide cross cover of colleagues, for whatever reason, up to a maximum of ten weeks per year.
