The provision of outstanding acute care for our elderly citizens is a guiding principle across our Elderly Care Directorate. We are proud to be continually developing our innovative services to ensure our patients receive the best, evidence-based treatment and care tailored to their needs.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who will complement our existing team in the progression of an ambulatory pathway for the frail, older adult. Integrated and collaborative working with our community services is a key driver to further improve our services and this is an exciting time for our department and an excellent opportunity for the appointed candidate to actively support the design of Elderly Care at HEFT.
Our Elderly care team pride themselves on ensuring modern, high quality clinical presence and providing high quality standards of education, training, research and audit. Our team are actively engaged in undertaking research, delivering training and developing robust educational programmes. The appointed candidate will have ample opportunity to contribute to this programme to take forward the educational needs of the department.
Our Consultant team work within a culture of mutual respect and colleague support. This extends to all new members who we welcome to our team. The Hospital sites are all within easy reach of motorway and railway networks, including Birmingham International Airport which provide opportunities for both city and rural living.
We are developing new areas of working and candidates with special interests will be welcomed and supported. We are looking for candidates who will work closely with a team of 7 experienced Consultants to design pathways of care within the acute setting.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within one of the largest, well established movement disorder services within the Midlands. The department reviews on average 430 movement discorded patients per annum through a multidisciplinary clinic incorporating a Consultant, Parkinson Nurse Specialist, trainee doctor, therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist and Dietetics all within the clinical setting. This service has been awarded and recognised for its outstanding service at the April 2017 Parkinson’s UK Excellence Network awards.
The posts are to join our current established workforce of 16 Consultants. The Senior Clinical team work across all 3 sites, though the post is primarily based on one site, the post holder is expected to work across the sites for service provision and cross cover when need arises. The post holder will work 10 programmed activities for Heart of England Foundation Trust. This will include delivery of elderly care and general medical services. The post includes on call for own speciality and general medicine. If the candidate wishes, on call for stroke thrombolysis could be organised if they are suitably qualified. The post holder will also provide cover for colleagues when on leave etc, so as to provide continuity of service. The job plan will include PAs for direct patient care and SPAs to support activities required for revalidation including CPD and educational supervision/teaching.
Candidates must possess MRCP or equivalent, and be on the Specialist Register in Geriatric and General Medicine or be within 6 months of CCT in Geriatric and General Medicine.
