Consultant in Gastroenterology and General Medicine
We are seeking an enthusiastic colleague to complement and enhance our experienced and friendly team of 6 NHS Consultant Gastroenterologists (including this position) based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital.
This is a new full time post (10PAs)
The post holder will be actively encouraged to develop subspecialty interests that compliment those of the current team e.g. Hepatology, IBD, Nutrition, functional GI, or capsule endoscopy. The post holder will be actively encouraged to develop teaching/academic collaborations with the University of Surrey.
The candidate will be a key member of the gastroenterology/hepatology service and attend the regional network multidisciplinary team meetings in their relevant subspecialty e.g. IBD, Colorectal, Hepatitis C Operational Delivery Network, upper GI, Liver, HPB, HCC/NET.
The Gastroenterology Team deliver a consultant GI bleed rota in addition to a reduced commitment to the general medical take; it is anticipated that over the next 12-18 months a 7 day Keogh specialist rota (including gastroenterology) instead of the unselected GIM on call will implemented.
Possession of MRCP or equivalent qualification is essential and applicants must be holders of a CCT in General Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology or be within six months of obtaining such a CCT.
Experience in hepatology is desirable but not essential
