We are seeking to appoint a clinical academic lecturer, interested in pursuing an academic career in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (ORL-HNS). Liverpool boasts the largest centralized MDT for the management of head and neck cancer in the UK and the Mersey Head and Neck Oncology Research Group (MHNORG) provides unrivalled opportunities for research and the development of a clinical academic career. The post is divided into 50% research and 50% clinical training which will be reflected in the weekly job plan of the successful candidate.

You will have completed training competencies necessary for appointment at ST3 level and to have completed a higher research degree (PhD, MD or equivalent). Under the auspices of MHNORG, the candidate will be expected to use the ACL post to develop an independent academic portfolio of research and scholarship.

Bespoke clinical training, tailored to the training needs of the successful
candidate, may take place at any of the NHS ORL-HNS training Trusts
within Mersey, but will be predominantly concentrated at Aintree
University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Please note that this post
will not involve formal on-call commitments, but informal opportunities
exist for the incumbent to partake of on-call duties to ensure emergency
competencies are achieved.

This post is designed for trainees who can demonstrate outstanding potential for development as a clinical academic. The post is available for 4 years, or until CCT.

Candidates must be able to take up the post before 31 March 2018.

Closing date: 31 August 2017.
