Consultant General Surgeon/Surgical Oncologist 
with particular interest in Abdominal/Retroperitoneal and Pelvic Sarcoma Surgery

Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in General Surgery and Surgical Oncology with particular interest in Intra-abdominal, Retroperitoneal and Pelvic Sarcoma surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
You will join the Midland Abdominal and Retroperitoneal Sarcoma Unit (MARSU) to support its continuing expansion. The unit is a major referral centre for sarcoma serving a population of over 10 million and together with the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital forms the Birmingham Sarcoma Service (BSS). The Unit also supports other surgical specialties including urology and colorectal surgery in complex oncological cases and provides surgical input to the regional neuroendocrine tumour service. 

You will be expected to participate in all aspects of under/post graduate teaching participate in the many trials and research projects. MARSU is part of the rare tumour group and integral to the newly founded Institute of Translational Medicine. 

Applicants must have completed their surgical training and have experience operating throughout the abdomen, pelvis and retroperitoneum with an emphasis on cancer surgery. We are looking for an individual with strong communication and team working skills who will easily integrate into a tight knit team.

You will be a full member of the general surgical on-call rota which includes abdominal and pelvic trauma and provide sub specialty cover.
