We are a financially stable progressive mental health and community
services trust with very strong clinical leadership at all levels of the
organisation.

The trust has a focus on improving the experience of patients, carers and
our staff. For the last two years we have been developing a special quality
improvement programme that provides our clinical staff, patients and
carers with skills to transform our services. We believe that our staff are
the organisation’s greatest asset and are the best agents for change.
We were graded as Outstanding by the CQC in September 2016 and
as Provider of the Year 2016, as well as being rated as the best place to
work in mental health by the Health Service Journal. In 2015 we acquired
mental health services in Luton and Bedfordshire.

This exciting Consultant Psychiatrist post has been created as a new post
to serve the population of Central Bedfordshire and along with the three
other learning disability Consultants, provide clinical leadership for the
Learning Disability services within Luton and South Bedfordshire Mental
Health and Wellbeing Service. Our Specialist Medical Department centres
on the provision of psychiatric services, challenging behaviour services,
Autism in LD and specialist physical care in Bedfordshire and Luton.

The work is primarily community based, with no direct inpatient
responsibility. In line with the Transforming Care agenda, we have
a strong record of supporting people with a high level of needs in
community settings, supporting access to generic mental health services
where possible, and minimising the use of specialist inpatient beds.
We have strong research links with University College London and the
you would be expected to encourage participation in their research
programs.
