Consultants in Acute Medicine - 4 posts offered on a full or part time basis

The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking to recruit four dynamic
Consultants in Acute Medicine to join our existing team of 3.5 Whole Time
Equivalent Acute Physicians.

The posts are based at North Manchester General Hospital and provide senior medical support to our 50 bedded Medical Assessment Unit and Ambulatory Care Unit.

The unit is expanding the Consultant support to the unit to ensure Consultant delivered care is available seven days a week, and to establish imaginative and innovative ways of addressing the demands in emergency medical care.

The posts are offered at 10 PAs; however the service actively encourages a number of sessions in other specialities:

  • Infectious Diseases
  • Respiratory Medicine
  • Care of the Elderly
  • Diabetes and Endocrine

The North Manchester site is also exploring integrating its services with Central, South Manchester and University Hospital Teaching Hospitals in future years.

The Trust provides acute general hospital services for just under a million population of the North East of Greater Manchester and employs over 9,000 multidisciplinary staff on four hospital sites, making it one of the largest Trusts in the UK.

In particular we are looking for clinicians who wish to take roles in the following areas as part of their job plans to facilitate their further development:

  • Medical leadership (Clinical Lead / Clinical Director)

You must be on the Specialist register or within six months of achieving a CCT (or equivalent) at the date of interview.
