Consultant in Neonatology
Applications are invited for 2 Consultant Neonatologist posts in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust (HEFT).These are substantive replacement posts.
Both posts carry 10 programmed activities (PAs) and are based primarily on the NICU at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital (BHH). Both also have some commitments to the Special Care Unit at Good Hope Hospital (GHH). One of the posts has a designated link role to support the SCBU at GHH. Cardiology skills would be desirable for the second post. The on-call commitment is at BHH. The successful applicants will complete a team of 8 enthusiastic substantive Neonatal Consultants.
HEFT is one of the largest progressive NHS trusts in England and includes BHH,GHH, Solihull Hospital and Birmingham Chest Clinic. There are around 11,000deliveries a year within HEFT at the BHH and GHH Obstetric Units and the Solihull Midwifery Led Unit. The NICU at Heartlands provides comprehensive medical intensive care to babies born in HEFT and to the wider population and accepts both in-utero and post-natal transfers of mothers/babies. It is the designated regional cooling centre.
Working within the team at Birmingham Heartlands, the appointee will be expected to contribute to the development of the current neonatal service, provide clinical leadership, specialist neonatal advice and complex multidisciplinary management within the department, and with obstetric colleagues. The post holder will work exclusively in Neonatology.
