A Director of Internal Medicine is sought for a regional hospital in Victoria, Australia. Situated in a tourist town, just 2 and 1/2 hours drive from Melbourne, the capital of Victoria, the hospital is a 113 bed facility, newly built with excellent infrastructure.  It acts as a local hospital providing services for public and private patients and a venue for the education of medical students and junior medical staff. Local regional hospitals are in Bendigo and Melbourne.



  • Management of internal medicine patients as inpatients in 24 bed ward and 6 bed HDU and outpatients
  • Supervise and act as leader to supporting junior medical staff (1 medical offer/registrar, 1 medical officer, 2 interns) and local GPs who have admitting rights and beds under their care
  • Working week 38 hours with one afternoon off, on calls negotiable ( 1 night per week, 1 weekend per month)
  • Educate and train junior medical staff who are working in the hospital as a rural placement in internal medicine
  • Manage private patients



  • Specialist qualification and license in Internal Medicine in present jurisdiction of practice
  • Clean medical license
  • Eligible for license as a Staff Specialist (Consultant) in Australia
  • Experience working as a Consultant / Attending Internist 
  • Fluent English communication, if not native speaker IELTS score minimum 7 essential
  • Leadership skills - ability to build team relationships, excellent communication and strategic development
  • Clinical skills - sound skills in general medicine, subspeciality interests can be accommodated
  • Educational skills - ability to train interns and medical officers in general medicine



  • Total package worth A$ 360K per annum (approx £215K, $280K, Euros 247K)
  • Salary negotiable and based upon industrial award for Staff Specialists in Australia
  • CPD enhancements up to $25K pa
