Consultant in Palliative Medicine
Applications are invited for a full time (9.5 programmed activities per week) Consultant in Palliative Medicine. The post is also tenable on a whole time or part time basis. This is a permanent position to join our palliative care service in Gateshead.
The post holder will play a shared medical leadership role in the delivery of care across Gateshead. This exciting role will include evaluating and shaping the delivery and expansion of a progressive and sustainable Hospital and Community Specialist Palliative Care Service.
The team has an excellent relationship with other regional specialist palliative care services.
The pay and terms and conditions of service for the posts are subject to the Whitely Council Terms and Conditions of Service – Consultants (England 2003).
The appointees will be expected to contribute to the specialist palliative care education program and take an active role in the Trust’s Clinical Governance Strategy. He/she will also be expected to take part in clinical audit. As part of this role there will be significant opportunities for shaping and delivery of Specialist Palliative Care Day Services and Out Patient Services.
To be eligible for consideration for a Consultant appointment by an AppointmentsCommittee, candidates must be fully registered on the UK General Medical Council’s Specialist Register. Specialist Registrars may apply within six months of CCT at the date of interview.
