National Clinical Director
Genetic Health Service New Zealand
An exciting opportunity exists to provide national clinical leadership for the Genetic Health Service New Zealand (GHSNZ). This is a part time role (0.2FTE) with a three year tenure that could be based out of any of the GHSNZ hubs: Wellington, Christchurch or Auckland.
GHNS is a National Service, implemented in July 2012. The Service is provided by a small, highly specialised workforce providing integrated clinical assessment, counselling and genetic testing service for families and individuals with, or at risk of, a range of rare inherited and sporadic genetic disorders.
The key objective of the Service is to enhance and promote health outcomes by enabling individuals, families and whānau to make informed health decisions. This is achieved by having a comprehensive and integrated approach to investigation, diagnosis, education and counselling for individuals, families and whānau and through increasing professional knowledge and public awareness.
We are looking for a clinician who is able to provide strong strategic leadership for GHSNZ, supporting quality improvement planning and oversight across the three sites and representing the Service in national and international forums. To be considered for the role the clinician must be fully qualified to practise and have vocational registration, or be eligible for specialist registration, with the Medical Council of New Zealand, and hold a higher qualification specific to Clinical Genetics, which is recognised by the Medical Council of New Zealand for Specialist Registration; or hold a post graduate qualification in Genetic Counselling, and be accredited as a Fellow of the Human Genetics Society of Australasia in Genetic Counselling.
This role as advertised does not include clinical FTE. Therefore clinicians most suitable for this role will already be employed within GHNS in one of the three hubs.
