We are looking for an enthusiastic Specialty Doctor to assist with the day-to- day running of our busy Ophthalmology Department. You will work hard, but will be rewarded with an excellent professional and personal experience. This is a permanent post and the job attracts 10 sessions per week.

This is a very exciting time to join the Ophthalmology Department at Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust. The Trust plans to significantly invest in the expansion of the Ophthalmology Service over the next 5 years. In addition the Department is committed to the training, development and career progression of its clinical team.

The successful candidates will have Ophthalmic hospital experience and demonstrate a good grounding in general Ophthalmology. Applicants must hold full registration with the General Medical Council

Phase 1 of the Hull and East Yorkshire Eye Hospital opened in November 2002, providing 3 operating theatres, a pre assessment suite, day case unit, a 12 bed in patient ward, administrative space and a department library. Phase 2 was completed in April 2011 and provides paediatric and adult out patient clinics along with supporting facilities such as Orthoptics in a purpose built expansion of the existing eye hospital site.

Phase 3 is due to be completed January 2017, providing a much needed expansion of the service to include the entire next floor of the building we are are currently housed in. This will provide a dedicated glaucoma suite, 2 extra treatment rooms and much needed additional administration accommodation.

2017 sees Hull as the UK City of Culture and host to a yearlong programme of world-class arts and culture. A spectacular programme will deliver artistic excellence and events on a scale never seen before in the city. It will bring visitors from the whole of the UK and beyond, and take Hull to the world. The year 2017 has an added significance for the University, as the year when the institution will celebrate 90 years since its founding as ‘University College Hull’. The East Riding of Yorkshire and Hull offer a diverse and impressive range of housing choices, all offering good value for money.
