University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint two Consultant Dermatologists based at the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI). The new consultants will integrate into the existing team of consultants to provide dermatology services for the local community. The post will involve working within the general dermatology service to deliver dermatological care to the population of Bristol and the surrounding area. Suitably qualified candidates are encouraged to discuss the potential for flexibility within the proposed job plan and for opportunities in subspecialist areas of interest.
The post holder will be based at the Bristol Dermatology Centre in the BRI and may deliver some sessions to support dermatological care at South Bristol Community Hospital. Clinical sessions will be split between Bristol Dermatology Centre at the BRI, with continuing professional development sessions at the BRI. This new post is designed to meet the need for flexibility and teamwork in the future plans for the department.
Our team of dermatologists includes 10.73 whole time equivalent Consultants plus an Associate Specialist. The Bristol Dermatology Department is a large teaching hospital department providing a full range of dermatological services for our local population as well as a regional service in paediatric dermatology, phototherapy, contact dermatitis, skin lymphoma, Mohs surgery and nail disease.
Bristol Dermatology provides the main teledermatology service in the locality integrating with referral and treatment pathways. We have close working relationships with allied specialties including plastic, maxillo-facial and oculoplastic surgery; Mohs surgery is delivered by the UHBristol team at North Bristol Trust This is an undergraduate and postgraduate teaching Trust and is the main regional training centre for dermatology trainees.
The Bristol Dermatology Centre is a self-contained facility with purpose-built consulting rooms, phototherapy suite, contact dermatitis suite, day treatment area, skin surgery theatres, secretarial and consultant offices. In-patients are usually located in a nearby ward. The BRI Dermatology Department provides a full range of dermatology services to the population of Bristol and adjacent areas (core catchment population approximately 400,000).
