Clinical Fellow – Paediatric Anaesthesia
Birmingham Children’s Hospital
Birmingham Women’s & Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to be able to provide an opportunity for sub-specialty training in Paediatric Anaesthesia.
This is a replacement post, available from May 2018, and will be for one year. Candidates should possess FRCA or equivalent and have a level of Paediatric Anaesthesia experience equivalent at least to that of the higher module in Paediatric Anaesthesia in the RCOA Curriculum for the CCT in Anaesthetics. This post is suitable for senior trainees in anaesthesia, either ST 6 or 7, or for those who have received their CCT in Anaesthesia and are looking to broaden their experience before taking up a consultant post.
There are currently no training numbers attached to this post. The terms and conditions of this post will be as for a Specialty Doctor post. Existing fellowship posts are approved by the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the Postgraduate Dean for training to the advanced level paediatric anaesthesia module as described in the RCOA CCT document. The successful applicant will receive the same educational and training opportunities as other West Midlands Workforce Deanery Anaesthesia trainees. The post is intended also to provide opportunities for clinical research and audit. The post will include up to a maximum of three months spent attached to the paediatric intensive care unit.
Birmingham Children’s Hospital has an extensive profile of paediatric services. The surgical specialties include cardiology and cardiac surgery, neurosurgery and craniofacial surgery, neonatal and general paediatric surgery, a regional paediatric trauma, burns and plastics service as well as hepatobiliary surgery and liver and small bowel transplantation.
