Specialty Doctor in Paediatrics

Dumfries & Galloway is situated in the South West of Scotland amongst some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK. The town of Dumfries is located approximately one hour from the Lake District and has good transport links to major cities including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle and Belfast. The region is renowned for excellent schools and educational facilities, together with a range of leisure and cultural facilities and the many other advantages associated with rural and semi-rural living.
We seek to appoint a Specialty Doctor to join our team in Dumfries and Galloway.
The successful applicant will be based at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary and will undertake duties on the middle grade tier of the acute rota. Duties will include acute assessment and care of children and neonates within DGRI. In addition, there will be commitments to either general paediatric outpatient work or community paediatric work depending on the successful applicant’s experience and career wishes. Additional training can be provided to allow the successful applicant to develop their skills in line with service needs.
Community Paediatrics is based at the Willows Children and Families Centre where community services are delivered in a newly refurbished facility at the Crichton Hospital site. The Willows provides offi ce accommodation and clinical rooms for Community Paediatrics, CAMHS, Paediatric Therapy services, Community Children’s Nurses, Health Visiting teams, Child Protection Advisors and Community Midwifery teams. It provides excellent opportunities for multi disciplinary service delivery in the community. There are very close links between our acute and community services.
This is a full time position but we would welcome enquiries from suitable applicants who wish to work less than full time.
To practice medicine in the UK you need to hold both full GMC registration and a license to practice.
