Consultant Radiologists (2 posts)
Cross-sectional (Body/Urology and Neuro/Emergency)
Come and join us on the sunny South Coast at an anticipated exciting time of Radiology Service Review across Dorset.
Applications are invited for two full-time Consultant Radiologists - Body Imaging (Urology/General and Neuro/Emergency), based at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
These are as a result of relocation of a colleague and to help support increasing demand in cross-sectional imaging with installation of a third Multislice CT scanner (Aquilion One Genesis) and anticipated development of emergency services and closer working with the Radiology department at Poole Hospital (as part of the Dorset Vanguard). We anticipate more unified ways of working across Dorset as part of the imminent Clinical Services Review for Dorset, particularly with our colleagues at Poole Hospital (also approx 20 Radiologists)invo lving more cross-site working and collaboration.
The candidates will have dedicated CT/MRI sessions in support of the Body (Urology/Oncology) or Neuro/Head & neck caseload. There is also the opportunity to become involved in development of Emergency Radiology as a subspecialty interest. The job plan is structured to provide adequate opportunity for the reporting of complex cases as well as preparing for relevant multidisciplinary meetings and audit.
The candidate will be joining a team of 20 consultants (including five interventional Radiologists) and will have allocated sessions supporting the general departmental workload (including a flexibly worked session). The post is 10+1 APA with nine DCC and two SPA. On call is required with a current frequency of 1 in 12 and overnight imaging is currently outsourced from 10PM. The candidate must also be prepared to participate in weekend working (with appropriate time off in lieu).
The Radiology Department provides a broad range of diagnostic and interventional services.
A hospital-wide PACS is installed and all radiologists have access to full 3D functionality on all workstations throughout the department (including their own individual offices). The Radiology Department was the first site in the UK to install a Toshiba Aquilion ONE CT and has recently installed a third state of the art scanner – Aquilion ONE GENESIS. General imaging is also performed on a Toshiba Aquilion 64 CXL.
The department also has three MR scanners, including two high-end cardiac-optimised Siemens 1.5T MRI scanners - one Avanto and one Siemens Aera and a Siemens Essenza 1.5T. There is a plan to install an extremity MR scanner to further increase capacity. The Royal Bournemouth Hospital is a national and international reference site (including Toshiba (CT), Siemens (MRI), angiography (including IVUS) and cardiac angiography and Vital Images (advanced 3D server-based thin-client solution deployed across entire radiology department).
FRCR or equivalent is required and applicants should be on the GMC Specialist Register or have their CCT. Applicants who are within six months of obtaining their CCT on the date of the AAC may also apply and anyone outside this timeframe is still welcome to call or visit regarding future job opportunities.
For further information interested candidates should contact Dr Arnie Drury (Oncology Imaging & Clinical Director) or Dr Ruth Williamson (Urogynae Radiology and Assistant Medical Director) via 010202 704574.
