We are very pleased to be recruiting to 1 wte Consultant post in Old Age Psychiatry based in Kings Lynn (part of Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust)

This post is community based and covers both the Community Mental Health Team and Memory Treatment Service.

The Community Team is a well established and experienced team consisting of Senior Mental Health Practitioners, Assistant Practitioners and an experienced and highly skilled Specialist Clinical Psychologist.

The Memory Assessment Service is based within the community team, consisting of an experienced Senior Mental Health Practitioner and 2 Staff Nurses. The team provides a diagnostic service for patients referred with memory problems. The memory team includes, psychology input, and has consultant input from the Consultant Psychiatrist. We will shortly be recruiting a Non Medical Prescriber who will provide support to the Memory Treatment Team.

This job would be ideal either for an established consultant, or someone who has recently finished their training. The successful applicant would be joining an enthusiastic team of Old Age Psychiatrists who are welcoming and supportive. There are currently 2 full time community Old Age Consultant Psychiatrists and one 0.5 wte inpatient Old Age Consultant Psychiatrist within the department. There is also one Specialty Doctor, 1 senior trainee, 1 core trainee, 1 VTS trainee and 1 F2 trainee. The successful applicant would be encouraged and supported to take on appropriate supervision of junior colleagues.

The Trust has a strong educational reputation with excellent opportunities for teaching and research. 

There are close ties to both the University of Cambridge and University of East Anglia (based in Norwich). 

There is a very active teaching programme for medical students from the University of Cambridge. In addition research is strongly encouraged within the department and there is a well established research network within the trust.

In addition there is a local teaching programme for all psychiatry doctors and a regular old age psychiatry departmental teaching programme.
The successful candidate would take part in a West Norfolk locality on-call rota, currently approximately 1 in 10.
