This is a replacement post for a Consultant to join our team of 12 other consultant physicians in the department of medicine for older people.
St Helens and Knowsley Hospital NHS Trust is a busy and popular hospital, serving a population of 350,000. St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has a reputation for providing high quality, patient centred care. This has been acknowledged by the CQC in 2016 by awarding the Trust a rating of Good and the Patient Environment Action Team (PEAT) which rated the Trust as Excellent for 7 consecutive years.
The Trust is one of the most sought after teaching venues for students from the University of Liverpool and attracts high quality, enthusiastic trainees. The department has a high profile within the Medical Care Group with a very successful Stroke service, Orthogeriatrics and Frailty service. There are 6 consultants with special interest in Stroke participating in a hyper acute service on the Whiston Hospital site.
The successful candidate will be part of a happy, friendly, forward thinking team, which has excellent support from the executive board. We are in the process of becoming the main provider for Hyper acute and Acute services for Warrington and St. Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust, which is due to be completed by April 2018.
We are also in the process of integrating telemedicine into an already high quality Hyperacute service to make it safe, sustainable and to ensure good work life balance with a 1 in 8 rota for thrombolysis. There will also be an opportunity for the successful applicant to take lead in one of the strands of development within the stroke service.
The stroke team were awarded the Trust Team of the year in 2016, an accolade we are very proud of.
This is an 11.5 PA job plan, which will be reviewed in line with stroke service reconfiguration.
Successful applicants must have full GMC registration and be on the Speciality Register or be within 6 months of receiving CCT from date of interview.
AAC will be held at Whiston Hospital on Tuesday 1st August 2017.
