Consultant Radiologist Neuro Interventional
Applications are invited for this 10PA full time post in Neuro Interventional Radiology based in the Department of Radiology at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (KCHFT).
King’s College Hospital NHS Trust is one of the largest and busiest in London, with a well-established national and international reputation for clinical excellence, innovation and achievement. The hospital not only serves a diverse, multi-ethnic local population but operates as one of the four major trauma centres within the capital, a major trauma centre for Kent and as a tertiary services centre for neuroscience (including stroke), haematological oncology, cardiac / cardio-thoracic (including PAMI), cystic fibrosis, and hepatobiliary (including liver transplantation) patients.
The activities and development of the Imaging Services reflect those of the Hospital as a whole with integration of both undergraduate and postgraduate training with the service commitments to the institution. Following a Trust wide organisational change in January 2017, the General, Neuro, Breast and Dental Radiology services have come together and are now part of the Critical Care, Radiology and MEP Care Group, which is within the directorate of Networked Care.
The remit of the postholder will be to work within the multi–disciplinary team providing and further developing care for patients presenting to Neuroradiology, with a specific role in supporting the neurovascular intervention service. The postholder will be expected to provide and develop Neuroradiology services to King’s, Princess Royal University, and SLAM patients. In addition, the individual will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the department while having a significant commitment to teaching and training of junior staff.
The successful postholder will share responsibility with the other Consultant Interventional Neuroradiologists in providing On Call cover for the Neurovascular Service on a rota basis. Initially this will be on the basis of a 1.4 Saturday rota for coil embolization of aneurysms. Moving forward the vision is to work towards development of a shift system for a 24/7 mechanical thrombectomy service for stroke at Kings.
The interviews will be on 10th or 11th August 2017
