Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals (BSUH) is the regional teaching hospital in Sussex, providing general acute services to Brighton and Hove and Mid Sussex. The Trust also works in collaboration with hospitals to the east and west providing tertiary support including cancer services for patients across Sussex and the south east of England. Working as one hospital across two sites in Brighton and Haywards Heath, BSUH trust treats over half a million patients a year.

This is a new full time (10PAs) consultant post, and is a part replacement post for a vacated breast oncology job in Worthing, and also to reflect the increasing work load in Melanoma and Breast cancer in Brighton. Part time applicants will also be considered.

The post holder would join the wider oncology team and will have clinical commitments in both trusts - BSUH and Worthing Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The oncology department in Brighton and Sussex has grown considerably in the last 5 years or so, and prides itself on having a friendly cohesive supportive group of oncologists. We meet regularly on a Monday afternoon for peer support, educational and governance meetings, and this maintains the collegiate departmental atmosphere.

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic Medical Oncology colleague, who will work well with the extended multi-professional team and continue to develop the service for these patient groups. There are multiple opportunities for delivering high quality care for local patients, and for research, teaching and training as part of a wider dedicated team.

With links to the highly successful medical school and a dedicated oncology research department in each trust, there are fantastic opportunities in this job for teaching and clinical trial involvement.

Please refer to the person specification in the job description with regards to CCT requirements.

Please be aware that candidates will be informed by email of the outcome of their application
