Consultant in Stroke Medicine
These 2 new posts offers an excellent opportunity to further develop services in Stroke Medicine in Peterborough.
We are looking for a team player with a flexible approach who can embrace new ways of working. You will be expected to take an active lead in new developments in our service.
The post becomes available at an exciting time for the service and will assist with the further development of an already strong, dynamic and forward thinking stroke service committed to delivering national stroke targets and locally commissioned improvements. You will join our team of two Consultants in Stroke Medicine, providing hyperacute care (including stroke thrombolysis), acute care and rehabilitation for our stroke patients.
Following recent merger with Hinchingbrooke Hospital the aim is to eventually have 6 stroke consultants with 4 in Peterborough City Hospital and 2 in Hinchingbrooke Hospital. There will be a rota for all consultants will rotate through the hyperacute unit at Peterborough City Hospital. This appointment is full time with ten programmed activities per week.
Involvement in acute general medical rota is negotiable. You are expected to take part in the weekend stroke ward round as per rota.
Peterborough has excellent road and rail links with London (50 minutes by regular high speed train) and the North. The area is surrounded by beautiful countryside and is served by numerous excellent state and private schools. Appropriate office accommodation, secretarial support and IT support will be provided.
Applicants must be members of the Royal College of Physicians U.K. or have equivalent experience and training, and must be fully registered with the General Medical Council. Specialist Registrars who have successfully completed all parts of their training must be listed in the GMC specialist register within six months of the Formal Appointments Panel. Specialists in Geriatric Medicine and General Internal Medicine, recognised by EEC, are eligible to apply.
