THE DEPARTMENT

The Diabetes and Endocrine Directorate are an enthusiastic, dynamic team who are committed to providing excellent care. We have developed numerous services including community diabetes and specialty clinics and we are keen to increase our capability to develop our services further by welcoming someone just like you!

The current team includes nine Diabetes & Endocrine Consultants (three based at Fairfield General), Diabetes Specialist Nurses, Specialist Dieticians, Podiatrists and supporting staff.

We have close links with the University of Manchester Medical School with associate teaching hospital status and we are one of the largest training organisations for Junior Doctors in the North West. Additionally, we are recognised for our Diabetes and Endocrine Research trials.

The Diabetes and Endocrine team serve a population of 800,000 and so have exceptional opportunities for those wishing to develop sub-speciality interest, clinical leadership and medical education roles.

You will be joining us at a time of expansion to our Medical Workforce, so the right candidate will have the opportunity to help lead service developments, research, and education and develop clinical leadership across the Health and Social Care System.

YOUR VALUED CONTRIBUTION

We are looking for candidates with ambition, a determination to deliver the best and vision for the future. You will be an enthusiastic team player with a strong background in all aspects of Diabetes and Endocrine management, along with General Medicine expertise.

Candidates should be on the Specialist Register or within six months of achieving a CCT (or equivalent) at the day of interview.

The post is being offered at 10 PAs but the Trust and department are extremely flexible and welcome applications for job share or candidates wishing to work part time.

The post holder will participate in the GIM on call rota at Fairfield General Hospital (a 1- in-12 weekday and 1-in-8 weekend commitment.)
