Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Pathologist
Department of Cellular Pathology
Applications are invited for a whole-time Consultant Histopathologist specialising in Oral and Maxillofacial and ENT Pathology. This is a replacement post offering an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic Head and Neck Pathology team and to develop specialist diagnostic and research interests with the support of the corresponding clinical teams.
The service has recently combined with the department formerly based at the BRI at UHBristol to provide a single service for Bristol. The majority of the service is delivered from new, purpose-built accommodation on the Southmead Hospital site co-locating the service with the other disciplines in pathology, most notably the genetics service. An Essential Services Laboratory is maintained at the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI) to support some specialist services located on site including Head & Neck Pathology.
The successful applicant will be required to spend time at both the Southmead Hospital and BRI sites. A new Laboratory Information System, Clinisys WinPath Enterprise, was implemented in October 2016.
Individuals wishing to apply must be registered Medical Practitioners (with a licence to practice) with the General Dental Council. They should have completed a CCST in Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology or be within 6 months of obtaining this.
The successful candidate will be employed under Terms & Conditions of Service for Consultants (England) 2003.
The Trust has teaching status and is linked with the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England. The appointee will be required to reside not more than 30 minutes travel by road from Southmead Hospital, Bristol, for on-call purposes. Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent is essential.
