South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust invites applications from dynamic and well-motivated individuals for a substantive Consultant post in Trauma and Orthopaedics with an interest in Hip Surgery. A sub-specialist interest and training in complex primary and revision hip arthroplasty and peri-prosthetic hip fractures is essential. An interest in young adult hip would be welcome too.

This vacancy has arisen following the retirement of our senior Hip Surgeon. This is a replacement post where the successful candidate will join an existing team of 6 Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons delivering a comprehensive orthopaedic service and will be part of the consultant general trauma on-call. The hospital is a designated Trauma Unit on the North-East Trauma Network. The department is actively involved in teaching medical students from Newcastle University.

The post is whole-time and offers 10 PAs averaged out over a 6 week period, and is under the terms and conditions of the 2003 consultant contract. South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust has been consistently recognised as one of the best performing Foundation Trusts in the country, meeting and exceeding the key targets set by Government.
