The Northern Health and Social Care Trust provides a broad range of Health and Social Care Services for people across the local council areas of Antrim, Ballymena, Ballymoney, Carrickfergus, Coleraine, Cookstown, Larne, Magherafelt, Moyle and Newtownabbey. It is geographically the largest Trust in Northern Ireland and operates from approximately 150 locations, serving a population of over 443,079 people. We also provide services to the only inhabited island in Northern Ireland, Rathlin.

Further details about the Trust can be found on the Trust’s website

Causeway Hospital is one of two acute hospitals in the Northern Trust and is situated in Coleraine near the North Coast of Northern Ireland in an area of outstanding natural beauty with busy local towns, excellent schools and affordable housing. It covers the coastal area from Castlerock to Cushendall and reaches inland to the towns of Garvagh, Kilrea and Rasharkin and has easy linkages with bigger towns in the Northern Trust area as well as Londonderry and Belfast. Causeway Hospital is a busy acute hospital where referrals and attendances are increased by the high transient tourist population and the number of students, who reside in the area during the academic year.

Clinical Networks with both Altnagelvin and Antrim Hospitals have already been developed in some specialties and it is envisaged that further networks will develop in other specialities.

Due to the retirement of long standing surgeons the Northern Trust wishes to appoint two Consultant Surgeons to continue to provide excellent clinical care to patients requiring surgical services and quality undergraduate and postgraduate medical training. Both vacancies are for General Surgeons however a sub-speciality interest that compliments the surgical team would be advantageous.
