Consultant Anaesthetist

Applications are invited from Consultant Anaesthetists holding a FANZCA or equivalent and registrable in Victoria for a full-time position at Mildura Base Hospital.

The Hospital is a new facility with 146 beds, including medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, psychiatry, emergency, intensive care and rehabilitation that service a population of approximately 80,000 people.

Approximately 6,500 surgical procedures are performed annually in the Hospital’s 4 theatres by resident and visiting specialists in the fields of General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Urology and Faciomaxillary Surgery.

The Hospital has a 5 bed ICU and can cater for ventilated patients.  Currently the anaesthetists provide sessional cover for ICU.

The Hospital currently employs 5 Anaesthetists.

It is expected that the successful anaesthetist will perform clinical anaesthetics and participate in the anaesthetists’ on-call roster (1 in 5) currently.  Specialist qualifications and post-graduate experience in anaesthetics is essential. Prior experience in a similar role is highly desirable.

Applicants should have a primary medical qualification registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), Fellowship of the ANZCA) and significant experience in Anaesthesia in a major public hospital.

Position to commence August 2017.
