Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon with special interest in Head and Neck Cancer and Microvascular Reconstruction
Applications are invited to join a strong multi disciplinary team including 12 other Oral & Maxillofacial Consultants (including three with a specialist Head & Neck Cancer interest) who provide care across the adult and paediatric maxillofacial needs for the Birmingham Area and specialist services for the West Midlands.
The job plan (10 PA’s) includes a balance of outpatient sessions, operating sessions and multi disciplinary meetings. Strong communication and team working are essential. We are looking for a consultant with a strong commitment to head and neck cancer and a record of experience in this field including a period spent in fellowship.
The Trust is a regional centre for cancer, trauma, burns & plastics and has the largest solid organ transplantation programme in Europe.
It is one of the most-consistently high performing trusts in the NHS and has been rated "excellent" for both financial management and for quality of clinical and non-clinical services by the Care Quality Commission.
You will be based at the new Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham and will also have commitments at Heartlands Hospital. The hospital itself holds a major trauma centre, University of Birmingham translational research laboratories and is the Royal Centre for defence medicine and joint medical command. There are 1200 beds including 100 critical care beds which cover all clinical sub-specialities. The Unit is a regional centre for Cleft, Craniofacial and Skull Base Surgery. There are close working relationships with ENT, Plastic’s and Neurosurgery.
