2 x Consultants in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
10 Programmed Activities
Applications are invited for the above posts. These appointments join 40 consultant psychiatrists across Cornwall. Cornwall is a unique place to live and work. It offers a great quality of life, a beautiful natural environment, excellent primary, secondary and further education and superb leisure and cultural opportunities. Though remote, there are air and rail transport links with London and other areas of the country.
Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CFT) is a forward looking and dynamic organisation, which is seeking to continuously improve its services, currently rated ‘Good’ by CQC.
Relationships between clinical staff and managers are underpinned by a determination to work together and with key external partners to ensure that we deliver high quality care for patients, their carers and families. To ensure that clinicians maintain a significant voice in the workings of the organisation, we promote clinical engagement and enhanced medical leadership. CFT has recently been successful in receiving funding from NHS England to build a 12 bed unit for children in Cornwall which is due to open in 2019.
The consultant team is effective, supportive and committed to continually developing services in line with good practice and evidence based psychiatry. We have a well-attended, regular CPD programme, a staffed library and good regional and national links with the Royal College of Psychiatrists and other networks. Our psychiatric training scheme is highly successful and we work closely with the University of Exeter which offers opportunities for undergraduate teaching and research. We offer mentoring and induction to new consultants in line with the RCPsych StartΨell initiative.
The CAMHS team is multi-disciplinary and works effectively with other agencies in the management of complex cases. The Consultant Psychiatrist does not “care co-ordinate” cases but is available to provide consultation for the most complex and unstable cases and advice to other team members. Full details of the Trust’s Children’s Services can be found in the job description.
Whilst primarily responsible for delivering a quality clinical service, the consultant psychiatrists are also expected to be actively involved in the strategic development of the service and team in line with clinical best practice.
