Velindre Cancer Centre is an internationally regarded centre of excellence providing services to over 1.5 million people. With its strong research and
innovation pedigree, Velindre is currently leading the transformation of cancer services in South Wales, which will include a move to a new, state of the art specialist cancer hospital in Cardiff in 2022.
The Welsh Blood Service is a high profile national body, responsible for collecting, processing and testing all blood supplies to hospitals in Wales. In
addition, the WBS is a key player in regenerative medicine, operates a national panel of unrelated potential blood stem cell donors for the Welsh Bone Marrow Donor Registry, and has an international reputation for quality and research.
The Trust is now recruiting an outstanding clinical leadership position.
The role is a Medical Director for the Welsh Blood Service, who will have specific responsibility for WBS strategy, day to day operations and
representing the service nationally and internationally.
The individual will provide strong leadership and guidance across a range of areas, including clinical strategy and governance, safety, quality, service
transformation and professional development, and will represent the organisation on a national and international basis.
