We have an excellent opportunity for a Consultant Anaesthetist. This full time permanent post will join our dynamic department.

Ideally you will have an interest in anaesthesia for children, and this can be cultivated in house with further training if required.

We aim to support development of any areas of special interest from high quality candidates which benefit patients and the hospital.

The anaesthetic department works flexibly to provide cover for over 11000 orthopaedic procedures annually, including patients from our busy Private ward, and also covers extra-contractual waiting list work on a fee per case basis.

We are well-resourced, and the working environment is second-to- none with our newly-opened operating theatre suite, admissions ward and High Dependency Unit.

As a leading Orthopaedic provider and established Foundation Trust, we cultivate an environment where our staff become true experts and pioneers in their field. The anaesthetics department will support the appointee to develop any existing or new interest in areas as varied as regional anaesthesia, paediatric anaesthesia, anaesthesia for spinal deformity correction, pre-operative assessment, peri-operative pain management, education, medical management and research.

With a reputation for innovation, the Trust provides a comprehensive range of musculoskeletal surgical, medical and rehabilitation services locally, nationally and internationally. We are at the cutting edge of medical excellence, with a growing research programme.

Applications are welcomed from candidates with FRCA (or equivalent) who are on the General Medical Council’s Specialist Register in Anaesthetics or who will be within six months of obtaining their CCT at the time of interview.

In addition applicants must demonstrate through their application their capability in all aspects of anaesthesia for orthopaedic surgery. We are looking to appoint team players with good communication skills and a passion for helping the Trust to deliver its safety, quality and efficiency agenda.
