Cleft Lip and Palate Network
The Cleft Lip and Palate Network are looking to recruit a substantive Cleft Surgeon to work 5PA sessions per week, based at Alder Hey NHS Foundation Trust, but delivering cleft care across the Liverpool and Manchester network.
Alder Hey NHS Foundation Trust and Central Manchester &Manchester Children’s University Hospitals NHS Trust are designated as the sites for paediatric cleft lip and palate surgery for the single North West of England, Isle of Man and North Wales service. There are currently 2 Consultant Cleft Surgeons in Manchester and in 2 in Liverpool. A vacancy has however arisen for a Consultant Cleft Surgeon in Liverpool due to a change in one of the Consultant Cleft Surgeons job plan and an increasing workload within the service. You will provide diagnosis, treatment planning and surgery for children and young people born with cleft lip and/or palate and non-cleft velopharyngealin competence.
All the programmed activities will be worked at Alder Hey Hospital, but it is envisaged that in the future you will also provide an outreach service to Wales with a facility to treat adult patients with clefts at Aintree University Hospitals NHS Trust or St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust.
